Do you ever struggle to pull together the perfect look? Do you oftentimes feel like your outfit is missing something? The solution is actually super simple: think three!

The “third piece rule” or “rule of threes” is a philosophy that you should adopt ASAP. Essentially, think about your outfit as a set of three. If you are wearing a dress (one item), you should add two more items to your outfit. If you are wearing jeans and a blouse (two items), you should add one more item to your outfit. You can add a hat, blazer, vest, kimono, scarf, tights, headband, statement necklace, etc. Just note that this philosophy excludes shoes, they are a given.

Never underestimate how much a hat can elevate your outfit. It is probably the easiest third piece addition to any outfit. How fun is a burgundy hat, with this dress and tights? [This Free People dress is on sale for under $50, until Saturday!]

Start working the “rule of threes” into your ensembles. It is a surprisingly simple way to add interest and dimension to your your look. You never know, you may be onto your chicest wardrobe ever.
